The Out-Patient Pharmacy is located at the old OPD ( Out Patient Department Block) enclosing an area of about 1200 Sq. ft.  It is surrounded by the Specialist Clinics,  the Blood Bank, the Laboratory, X-Rays unit and the Casualty Department.

At the present moment, the Outpatient Pharmacy has a staff strength of about 30 personnel, comprising of 1 pharmacist in-charge,  1 Chief Pharmacy Assistant, 2 Senior Pharmacy Assistants 14 Pharmacy Assistants, 3 Attendants assisted by House Pharmacist (s) & Student Pharmacy Assistant (s).

The Out-Patient Pharmacy caters for an average of about 800 patients daily. 

The specialist clinics comprise of  Medical, Surgical, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatric Surgical, ENT, 

The OPD Pharmacy provides Counter Services to the general public from 8.00 am to 10.30pm daily including Sundays and Public holidays.

 

The OPD Pharmacy has 4 counters, (1 counter for Receiving of prescriptions and 3 counters for dispensing of drugs to the patients). There are plans to upgrade the services by opening 2 counters, namely : the Express and Caring counter. The Express is for patients with 1 item prescription only, whereas the caring counter  is for elderly (more than 60 years old) patients, pregnant women, handicapped, infants (less than 1 year old) and blood donors.

The OPD Pharmacy also has a pre packing Section and a Manufacturing Section. These 2 units are manned by 1 Senior Pharmacy Assistant, 3 Pharmacy Assistants, 2 Attendants and assisted by Student Pharmacy Assistant (s). The Pre packing Section pre-packs tablets, capsules, syrups and mixtures for the counter services while the Manufacturing Section manufactures syrups, mixtures, creams and ointment.
